Keeping Moving

I don’t know about you, but I am happy to put Fall ’08 and Winter ’09 behind me. Hello, Spring, you lovely.

With yesterday’s late, wet snow now melted and a spirit-lifting blue sky above, I feel like a desert lizard that’s emerged from lying low in the sand through some especially cold months. Yes, it is a bummer to finish one’s computer science degree a few months after being downsized and a few months before the onset of one of the crappiest job markets in anyone’s recent memory. Luckily, I did find some sound advice on the intrawebs for dealing with under-employment and the looming reality of student loans with no employer-provided tuition assistance — namely, to just keep moving, write code, design projects, draw pictures. In other words, do what you like and do what you find interesting.

That’s what I’ve done while hunkered down in the sand this winter. And, soon, I’ll be adding the finished bits of that work to this site for all to see. I think the self-induced enrichment has worked to a large extent. I have become more acquainted with my web development framework friends, Drupal and jQuery, for example.

On the Saturday before the Easter Sunday snow I went for a run in Waldo Canyon and spotted off the trail some new green on a few Mountain Mahogany bushes. It is for certain: warmer days are ahead.

I miss the CO mountain running adventures, especially with my big brother, but the watery/mountainy trail running here is a whole new challenging adventure.

I agree with your typings, keep doing what you love, keep moving, all great advice. Time to get my head out of this XML and move my toosh.

    Happy belated Easter!
